Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride is the most effective agent available to help prevent tooth decay. It is a mineral that is naturally present in varying amounts in almost all foods and water supplies. The benefits of fluoride have been well known for over 50 years and are supported by many health and professional organizations. We know fluoride strengthens the tooth’s enamel, preventing decay. We are able to strengthen your teeth further by applying professional fluoride treatments at home or in our office.
Dental Sealant
A sealant is a thin, plastic coating applied to the chewing surface of molars, premolars and any deep grooves (called pits and fissures) of teeth. More than 75% of dental decay begins in these deep grooves. Teeth with grooves are hard to clean and are very susceptible to decay. A sealant protects the tooth by sealing deep grooves, creating a smooth, easy to clean surface. In children any permanent molars can be protected by sealants, but we also treat adults, and occasionally baby teeth, that have deep groves.
Gum Disease
Plaque can irritate your gums, making them swell and bleed. This condition is known as gingivitis and if not treated early it can cause your gums to pull away from our teeth, creating pockets or spaces that form between your gums and teeth. To prevent the further progression of this condition we utilize a procedure of scaling, root planing and laser treatment to preserve, regenerate and build bone in the infected area.
